This year, LG Fashion Week in Toronto renewed itself in hopes of putting the event on the map. With a new venue, fashion lovers were eager for a look.

LG Fashion Week in Toronto has come to an end, but the fashionable impressions are still lingering with the audiences and media. This season was nothing less but spectacular; the show had a brand new venue downtown Toronto and it was well organized compared to previous years. In addition, the designers who showed helped make a statement in the fashion milieu in Toronto.

Some of the designers that showed are no strangers to the fashion runway. Jay Manuel, Pink Tartan, Joe Fresh, Adrian Wu and MICALLA were all previous parts of the Toronto fashion runway show. However, this season did bring some new talent to the venue that may have made a big impression – big enough to come back next year.

This season, LG Fashion Week directors made some important decisions in hopes of putting the show on the map. Over the previous years, LG Fashion Week has been trying to compete with New York, Montreal and international fashion week events. And with the changes this year, the event may just be getting closer to the biggest fashion events in the world.

Adrian Wu Pleases Fashion Lovers

Adrian Wu is one of those designers that help put the notion of ‘high fashion’ in LG Fashion Week. He is one of the only designers that dare send something down the runway that won’t necessarily end up on the racks of Holt Renfrew. He is not one of those that make predictable garments and creates a ready-to-wear collection. Instead, he pushes the boundaries and with just 20 years of life experience under his belt, he has the creative thoughts to create some of the most spectacular collections

This season was no exception; he showed a collection that was inspired by creatures and quantum physics. There was a clear underlying sexual meaning in the garments, as many of them had sexual names. The garments had the voluptuous style that identifies Adrian Wu, but the entire collection also had a slight 1920s pattern and lace feel.

MICALLA Shows Elegance

MICALLA is a jewellery company that is run by Camilla Jorgensen. She is a top jewellery designer working out of Montreal, Canada. She was a busy woman this season; she showed at Ottawa Fashion Week just weeks before showing at LG Fashion Week. In addition, many of the pieces were completely different, meaning she literally had to put together two collections. Luckily, Le Chateau sponsored her and provided her with the dresses for the shows. Her jewellery is very elegant and modern, and often makes a big statement.

Both designers will most likely make an encore performance next season, when the spring edition of LG Fashion Week gets underway.
